Motorized Recreation - Southern ANF Trails

Penoke, Marienville and Timberline

The largest motorized trail loop in the PA Wilds and the ANF! With oversight from the ANF Marienville Ranger District, the Penoke, Marienville and Timberline Trails are a 76 mile interconnecting trail organisation. The trail season typically runs from the Fri before Memorial day to the last Sunday in September. Hazardous weather weather may crusade the trails to shut on short discover. Marienville ATV and OHM Trail:

The Marienville ATV Trail is approximately 14 miles of old roads and railroad grades traversing breathtaking and forested hills of the Allegheny National Woods. This trail is one-way travel except where marked. There are several steep hill climbs.

Timberline ATV and OHM Trail:

  • Rating: Beginner
  • Miles: 39
  • Maximum Width: 64 inches
  • Closest Towns: Marienville and Kane

The Timberline trail was designed for ATV and motorcycle riders at the beginner skill level, and connects into the Marienville ATV/OHM Trail. The Timberline Trail is a organisation of 39 miles of interconnected trails, railroad grades and roads crossing through the scenic forested hills of the Allegheny National Forest. The timberline trail is best suited to ATVs. Riding surfaces are mostly level and wide (averaging eight feet in width). The entire trail is a 2-way organization. In winter, this dual apply trail provides snowmobile access from the due south and southeast to the Allegheny Snowmobile Loop system. This trail is not groomed in winter.

Penoke Off Highway Motorcycle (OHM) and ATV Trail:

Running for just over 20 miles, the Rocky Gap trail is divided into 2 loops past State Road 3005/Pleasant Bulldoze. Due to steep side slopes, the ATV rider may experience more difficulty in sure sections. Timberline ATV and OHM Trail Update

The U.Due south. Section of Agriculture, Woods Service has announced that the eastward side of the "D" Loop on the Timberline ATV Trail will temporarily close at 9:00 a.m. on Baronial 13, 2021. The trail will remain closed until the reconstruction is complete, estimated to be mid-October. The "D" Loop of the Timberline ATV Trail is in Highland Township, Elk County, PA. This labor-intensive projection will be achieved by a Pupil Conservation Association crew working with Woods Service personnel and is funded with recreation user fees collected from the sale of ATV/Off-Highway Vehicle permits. This work is the second phase of the improvements accomplished in June on this trail segment and will involve the placement of paver blocks on the north side of the Twin Lick Run.
